Nutrition

I must confess: I eat like I'm a 16 year old boy.

This morning, it was Jerry's turn to rise with the kidlets, and he opted to take both of them to the grocery store in order to knock that chore out at 7 am (pure madness, in my opinion).  Thus, I was left alone in the house with 2 delightful options: A.) Stay in bed and sleep, or B.) Get up and enjoy some coffee and uninterrupted interweb time.  I kinda split the difference by sleeping 15 more minutes and then getting up.

Anyhoo, back to nutrition, let me share with you what I chose for my breakfast items: Oreos and coffee.

Yes, I am eating Oreos for breakfast.  I said it, I don't regret it.

Many of you participate in the "What I Ate Wednesday" and whenever I look at your food for the day, I'm always struck by how healthy it all is.  Granted, I try to eat a pretty healthy, and if nothing else, varied diet.  But, I'll be honest: There are days when nary a fruit or vegetable touches my lips.  I know that a better diet could help me shed a few unnecessary pounds, could help me run better, and could fill me with some sort of inner glow...you know, because eating healthy means you have good poops and people who poop good seem to be pretty happy, glowing people.

But, again I'll be honest: I'm not dissatisfied with my weight.  Sure, I could be a leaner, trimmer, running machine, but I also would rather not give up Oreos for breakfast.  And, I already poop pretty good.  Coffee, people, coffee!

I figure the running helps balance out the calorie differential, and really, my central running purpose has never been for weight loss purposes.  Yes, it's a nice side effect, but I need the stress relief and energy expression more than anything else.  And speaking of running, now that I've finished my coffee and Oreos, I think I shall go for a run: This breakfast was good fuel...right?

7 AM is a great time to shop with kids. very few other people to worry about. I'm always like, if you're happy with your weight and nutrition, then run with it. It is all about you!

They make Oreo cereal, you're just skipping the middle man and resultant higher price.

Honestly, I eat healthy because I don't want to gain weight and I know that I will. But after a while, I just sort of got used to eating that way and it honestly tastes good to me.

I did have chocolate pudding for breakfast this morning though!

I'm a fan of cupcakes in the morning myself...

I couldn't agree with this post more in any respect!!!! I love the "freedom" running gives me to eat!

Thanks for the honesty! I can get the veggies in, but sugar is always calling my name... I've been fairly strict with my daughter's sugar but have never been able to cut it out for myself, and like you, i don't feel like i need to be perfect.

I just bought the "Winter" oreos. I don't care what anyone says, that colored filled does taste different!

You are not alone! Sure, I eat as well as I can, but I also eat what I want. When what I want to eat isn't the healthiest, I just work on watching how MUCH I eat. I've decided I won't worry about achieving "racing weight" unless someone pays me to run. Ha! In the meantime, I'm with you.

Love it! Live life - enjoy it! This is exactly why I don't skip beer. It's not worth it! And the poop commentary is perfect!

You are not eating like a 16 year old - you are eating like the college kids you teach!

I don't do sweets for breakfast, only because it totally messes up my eating for the day. But I'll eat just about anything else and I've been known to have cake for dinner...

Sometimes I think to myself 'a calorie is a calorie' and does it really matter if I get my 300 calorie breakfast from cookies or oatmeal? But I also know I feel and function sooo much better when I am eating properly. That being said, I don't ALWAYS eat that health-fully. Trust me!!

When the camera is out, I am motivated to eat well. Is that cheating??

coffee and a cigarette is the best enema available. Oreos? that's a new one.

You must have a kick butt metabolism! Those oreos would go right to my butt/thighs if I did that too often.

I agree it's not bad to have a treat every once and awhile. An oreo here and there makes me happier. Now if I could only keep it to a couple... cookies, not boxes!

I go in stages of good eating and bad eating. Some days are excellent food days and others are downright scary! It’s those scary food choices that are so dang enjoyable though!

I can't eat anything sugary for breakfast. It really screws me up for the rest of the day.

Totally jealous of your extra sleep an alone time! Those things are hard to come by in my world...

As for Oreos for breakfast, sounds yummy to me! I have snacked on more leftover cupcakes from Nora's birthday party in the last couple of days than I care to admit.

We share the same thought process on why we run! I like the results you can get from it when I focus on diet in dire needs of fitting into a dress for a wedding or something but othe than that it allows me to eat and not feel guilty! Also, in my opinion Oreo cookies are THE ONLY cookie you can't replace with being homemade, therefore when I see them in the grocery store I must say I give in!
