Tidbit Tuesday

Full-time-momming commenced on Monday, and having Norah all day is not really much harder than my school year schedule; in fact, in some ways, it's easier.  During the school year, I really feel as though I do the "leg work" of the day by having her all morning: When she goes to daycare in the afternoon, she's mostly eating lunch and taking her afternoon nap, so being at home all day with her just includes those activities.  And when she gets up from her nap, typically, we only have about an hour or hour and a half before Jerry gets home (he's home by 4:30).  So, it's not too shabby.  Of course, I realize that once Caleb is born, it will be more work, but for now, I'm enjoying nap time myself in the afternoon!

And speaking of Caleb, I had another dr. check-up this morning.  I'm currently 1 cm dilated.  Which doesn't really mean much of anything right now, but as the dr. said, "1 cm is better than 'no cm'!"  True dat.  Otherwise, there's not much to report about the dr.

Lastly, a cute thing today was that we've been talking to Norah a lot about babies lately, and since we got some newborn diapers (holy bejesus, SO tiny!  I can't fathom how small they seem when compared to Norah's current sized diapers!), we've been doing things like diapering her baby dolls and, tonight, Jerry was showing Norah his swaddling skillz.  Here are a few of her babies, swaddled up, as well as a swaddled Piglet:
Norah thought this "swaddling" business was so fun that she wanted Jerry to swaddle her, so he got out a blanket and wrapped her as well, which she quickly broke free of.
She thought it was so fun, she kept asking for "more!"  I think Jerry ended up going through about 4 rounds of swaddlement.
All this baby business has had me sentimental about Norah being a newborn, and I couldn't help but go back and swoon over her newborn pics, those few days when she too was swaddled:
She never really liked it then, and she always managed to break her arms free and then kick her legs out, so after a week or two, we abandoned trying to wrap her like a burrito.  Still, it was cute while it lasted.
Hard to believe that 21 months ago, she was just a tiny little nugget, and today, when she gets "swaddled," she not only breaks her arms and legs free, but she gets up and runs around!

Oh my gosh! She was sooo little :) How cute!

To answer your Q on my blog, I usually have an afternoon snack about 2-3 hours later. I try to eat every few hours though. The lunch was totally filling- lots of protein & fat which makes you feel fuller longer. It's hard to get used to since carbs like bread or pasta make you feel full right away.

I love the newborn pics! so cute! the newborn diapers are so so so small.I agree and Nora is going to look like a giant as soon as you are holding Caleb. And the mornings are completely the legwork. Once 1pm hits, it's like the day has become easier.

Awww! Norah is so cute, then and now. Eva is only 6 months old and I get nostalgic about when we first brought her home from the hospital and how different she looked then. Not enough to get pregnant again yet, but I still sniff just a bit. How exciting to have a new little one arriving soon!!!! It will be interesting to see in what ways Caleb is different than Norah.

Haha! We're still doing the swaddling thing, though it might not be for much longer. Also still using newborn diapers (at one month, she's still under 7 lbs).

Sounds like a good afternoon plan you have with the nap and all. Wish I was a napper. Even with my limited sleeping, I still can't do the nap thing.

I think Norah is going to be great big sister! I love that she wanted to get swaddled after seeing her dolls all wrapped up! Too cute!

It is so weird to diaper a newborn after you have been putting diapers on your little one you already have! You are going to be so surprised how the first time you come home and go to pick up Norah how heavy & big she feels all of a sudden! I am smoothering my little Bo so much now I realize how fast they grow so much more now!
