Right on Schedule

I overslept this morning by about 20 minutes, and my first instinct when I oversleep is this: Oh well, I can't go run now. Then, I go back to sleep. But, this morning I powered past such apathy and got out of bed and got ready.

With 20 minutes less time than usual, I didn't have as much time to get ready for my run as I normally do, so after pumping and taking Scooter out, I skipped my usual cup of coffee, etc and hopped right into my running clothes and got out the door. I ran a solid 3 miler and was back with plenty of time to shower before Norah woke up. And, I'm so glad I didn't just brush the run off because I had slept in some, which is exactly what I would've done a week ago.

Now that I have a hard copy training schedule to follow, I feel so much more committed and motivated, and registering for and committing to those races in early 2010 has really provided me with the necessary mojo to create some consistency for myself. It's been so long since I ran with a schedule that I had kind of forgotten how helpful it is!

Good job kicking yourself out the door and getting in your run.

Way to get out there. I particularly love how you look at your 20 minutes of "oversleep" - instead of saying you have 20 minutes less to run, you say you your 20 minutes of less time impacted the time it takes for you to "get ready for" your run.

I supposed I could have done without the pumping image, but then again, I'm a male. :)

Good for you Jess, yes, having a training plan is primo...what, when and where is your first race???

The big problem with these morning runs is that it's socially unacceptable to crack open a beer to celebrate such self-motivation. Not that I'd let that stop me. Cheers!

Great job getting out there and not using the sleep-in as an excuse not to run. Having a schedule and races in mind certainly helps in the motivation department.

And I'm sure that coffee tasted great when you got around to having it.

You are a rockstar for getting out there! And yes, it is always easier to do it when you have a piece of paper telling you that you have to! Happy Wednesday :)

I always, always, always end up regretting sleeping in! That said, I feel so lost now without a "plan". Glad you've got one and are sticking to it!

Good Girl! (As Rylee would say.)
And by the way the holiday card was adorable! As is little Norah.

Good job getting that run done! I love being on a schedule, much more difficult to blow off a run.

Nice job getting out the door and getting it done. That training program is a great motivator.

A schedule is the only reason I actually get my runs in. Cuz some piece of paper tells me I'm supposed to :) I love schedules!

You are my hero! This morning, I fell back asleep after the alarm went off. Maybe I'll read my training plan a few times before going to bed to see if that helps. ;)

this post was totally the inspiration for me to get my butt up when I overslept this morning.

I will think of you tomorrow morning when I don't give in to "not" doing it! Thanks!
