Ouch!

Question: What's more painful than training for 3 half marathons?

Answer: Paying the registration fees for 3 half marathons!

So, I registered for the Miami Half, the A1A Half and the Disney Princess Half this evening, and I think my checking account just had heart palpitations about the race fees. Oh well. I'm looking forward to all 3 races, and it's gonna be an awesome half marathon bonanza in January, February, and March!

running my first full marathon this spring, and asked for a 'gift certificate' toward the fees as a birthday present. yea, fees are STEEEEEP.
but still....'running is cheaper than therapy'!

Awesome! The money is worth it though, right? I just ran a half on Saturday, and it was so cheap compared to most others out there (I paid $50 but could have paid $45 had I signed up early enough).

I actually just applied for the NYC half in March. It's a lottery, so I probably won't get in, but man am I dying to run it!

Good luck, I think it's awesome that you're already running that distance just a few months after having the baby!

No kidding! That was why we didn't do any adventure races this past year was b/c of the price and the fees clashed w/ our debt free goal. You are getting right back into the swing of races- I'm so excited for you!

Money well spent. Think of all the money that has been going towards Norah, a little money spent in your direction is probably a good idea.

Those races sound fun! Some of those fees can get pretty steep. I hope that race fees don't go up too much. It's not bad if you only do 1 event a year, but if you like to do them for fun/motivation throughout the year...it certainly adds up!

That is awesome, and I love Norah's pics from the previous post!

What do they charge to race? Does the money go to charity?

I think the Disney Princess Half looks like so much fun! I'd love to do it sometime when I can convince myself to fork over airfare and hotel fees on top of registration.

Love that you are diving back into it. I will be back at Disney in January for the 1/2 and Full....speaking of which, why don't you add that one to your list. You can run it with us !

I feel ya! I ran 12 races last year and I don't even want to add it all up, not to mention all the race gear I just "had" to have! Good job!

With a Disney race in there, I have no doubt it gave your bank account a shock. I am still recovering from our registration fees!

Sounds fun, though!!

I hear you with the race fees, I think of it as this is my only hobby that cost me $ and it is a relatively cheap sport to be involved in.
My husband is an avid hunter & golfer and all his equipment is very pricey, not to mention going golfing cost $ every weekend in the summer!
Plus running makes you happy so that is another way of looking at those fees.

Wow! Three 1/2s, three months in a row? You are hardcore.

Hear ya on the fees thing.

That's spendy with all those registration fees! I put a marathon registration on my Christmas list . . .

On the other hand, a half per month to start out 2010? Awesome!

Yikes, race fees do rape the wallet for sure. Congrats on making the commitment by signing up though. It's great to have those to look forward to!

Hopefully they have good swag to make the entry fee a little bit better :)

I'm pondering Miami myself ...

I haven't paid my fee yet for the princess race cuz I don't want to part with the money. Having to do that for 3 races would hit the pocketbook pretty good.

I'm so jealous!!! Races are few and far between this time of year up here.
