Christmas Wishlist

I don't have class on Fridays; instead, I have office hours which are supposed to be my designated time to "get papers graded," but today has been time to "surf the internet for running stuff."

In my defense, this is almost a requirement at this point since I have my mom, Jerry's mom, and Jerry all hounding me for a Christmas list, and so far, I have zilch for that list. And "diapers" were rejected from "my" list.

So, I figured that I always need/want running stuff, but I need a little help: I can't quite remember the cool things you guys are always mentioning that I covet. So, this is the list I have going so far and I need help adding to it. Tell me one of your favorite running items so I can go see if I need to make that one of my favorites as well. Keep in mind I don't need winter-running gear/apparel, but otherwise, I could use a variety of running-related gifts, so what would you add to the follow list?

1. Shoes (I just bought a new pair, but it just makes good, economical sense to get your mom to buy you one pair each year)
2. Handheld water bottle
3. Compression socks (where in the heck did those of you who have these in pink find them?)
4. Socks

And...that's as far as I got.

I don't really need more shorts and sports bras, so they're not on here for a reason. Any more of those, and I will need to put another dresser on my x-mas list too!

Ask for a massage. You're gonna need it as Norah gets heavier and even more once she gets mobile.

I always buy my shoes 2 pair at a time. I like having a pair that I know I can put right on and be ok with. Plus I put way too many miles on each pair so having that extra pair is an easy incentive to switch out the old ones.

I got my pink ones at a marathon expo, but I think the recovery socks website sells them. I like my oxysox better though :) I will post about both handhelds early next week!

Things I like:
heart rate monitor--I have the Garmin combo

fuel belt

Body glide (there's a great stocking stuffer!)

Good pair of running sunglasses.

Nike plus for ipod nano

I can't consider myself a runner these days, but when I was, I used my fuel belt a lot. Do you need/want one of those?

Non-running related items- what about any books you've been eyeing?

ooooh! Can I put a few things for me on your Christmas list?

Sunglasses? I'm in need of some sunglasses for running and dont know where to start looking. Maybe you could use a pair? Though, living in FL maybe you have like 20 of them already...

I am all about the handheld this year too. The pink compression socks are from the Recovery brand. I want the arm warmers, but I am not sure you'll ever need them.

I always like getting a re-up on my Runners' World subscription :)

I second the massage idea, your family can feel like they are pampering you, but you can actually use it to stretch out your legs.

I was thinking of asking for race entries. If you're eyeing any future races, that could work too.

Your list looks a lot like mine! I really want a handheld.

My husband gets me a new pair of running shoes for birthday (in July) and for Valentine's Day every year. Works out pretty good!

The Recovery Sock company has them in fuschia. http://www.recoverysock.com/recovery-sock.html

How about some powdered drink or nutrition (gel, chews, whatever you like best) in bulk? That way you don't have to make a special trip to buy some when you've run out. Maybe an i-Tunes card to download music for runs?

How about some running books or movies?

I like getting iTunes cards and right now I am in love with my spibelt. You can goole them! It carries a phone and a couple of gus really easy and doesn't bounce! Have a good weekend! ;0

Great list. Any iPod cards or stuff for music is good.

Check out Zenzah compression sleeves. I believe they have pink...but its just a calf sleeve. They are awesome and don't restrict your entire foot! I wear them to work everyday!

i'd love to try the compression socks too, i may put that on my list...

I sure do like my FiveFingers and LunarGlides. Boy your lucky... running in Michigan I have to purchase thermal running tights, a balaclava, yaktrax, gloves, gaiters, gortex running shoes and a camelback (so my water doesn't freeze). Can I come stay w/you in FL? lol Have a Merry Christmas!

I have some pink Zenzah compression "calf" sleeves. I got them from Road Runner Sports.

I could use a new dresser...I don't have near enough space to store all my running gear either.

So I'll admit, I came out of lurker status to admit that I am planning on stealing your xmas list and using it at my own. With my folk's being separated and my inlaws, I've been hounded by everyone for lists!

Recovery socks went on the list - I hadn't even thought of them! I may also ask for a arm band deal to hold my (as yet to be purchased) iTouch.

I just bought a bike so I also added some padded bike shorts to my list. Without them... OYY! :)

My first thought was HANDHELD WATER BOTTLE.

My hot pink compression socks are also from recoverysock.com.

runner26 said...

i have a similar handheld waterbottle--just got it this summer. it was great for hot days--which you have a lot of!

do you have a foam roller? they're the easiest way to roll out all the kinks after a run. you can get the black one in the travel size --easiest to store (downside is that scooter might think it's his new toy and steal it..)

I just came across your blog today! I thought I'd add to your Christmas list (I got asked for mine today too!)
I just got a SPIbelt (ordered online) and it's wonderful! My husband calls it the 'nerd belt' as it's similar to a fanny pack I guess, but WAY cooler! When they say on the website that it doesn't bounce when you run, they are for real!
Another great idea is a RoadID (also ordered online!)

Good luck completing the list!

You can get pink compression socks from Zensah.com or try your local running store. That's where I got mine. :)

do you already have a jogging stroller?

sRod said...

Well, if it helps any, I'm asking for a fabric strap for my Garmin. I haven't really gotten beyond that.
