This Was Messy

This afternoon, Norah put Crayola's "washable" claim on their fingerpaints through a thorough field test.

Thankfully, we learned that not only does it easily wash off skin and clothes, but it also washes off laminate floors, coffee tables, glass, walls, bathmats, and bathroom cabinets. Somehow, she even managed to get some paint on my bra, and I haven't run that through the wash yet, but so far, Crayola can rest easy with their marketing claims -- because this kid is a fingerpainting-machine!

She loved it so much that when I finally said she'd had enough (near the end, she was out of paper and was just painting herself and the coffee table), she bawled and bawled. She's never cried in the bath before, but she cried the entire time I washed that very washable paint off her. Jerry promised her that he's gonna bring home some giant paper from work, so next weekend perhaps we'll just lay down some huge swaths of paper and let her fingerpaint to the point of exhaustion.

    Adorable!!!

I agree with Marci. You should frame it! My grandmother did that with my first fingerpaint experience and I just recently acquired it. It's pretty neat (and old considering I am 48).

  13. In one of the photos it looks like Norah has a farmer's tan. The new Coppertone baby, perhaps? :)

  14. You are extremely brave. I would NEVER do that inside my house no matter what Crayola claims.

In fact, Ryan mentioned Miller is over his finger painting aversion (they give him a toothbrush at daycare because he doesn't like to get his hands dirty) and I should try it at home with him...maybe this weekend, outside, with a hose.

  15. So cute!!! Emma loves to paint too although I haven't been brave enough to let her our of her high chair to paint! We have a roll of paper (my father-in-law gave us old wallpaper) that we roll out on the coffee table for coloring! So fun!
