I drank about half a cup of coffee this morning before it dawned on me that it tasted funny. What can I say? I'm slow to wake up. The usual culprit in a bad tasting cup o' joe is expired milk, so I went and gave the milk a sniff. Yup, spoiled. Crap on a cracker -- it still had a few days left! Oh well, occassionally, I suppose bad moo juice happens.
So, I decided to make a trip to the store part of Norah and I's morning run. Publix is just a slight detour off our normal route, and it only adds a few minutes and a little extra distance to run the errand as we're running. Plus, it was nice to have a reason to go run -- always by about this point in the week, my motivation begins to run low, so it's good to feel as though I have to go run. In this case, I had to go "run" an errand.
3.2 miles later, we were home: Run, done. Milk, aquired. Now, as Norah takes her morning nap, I can enjoy my coffee WITH unspoiled milk. Tastes so much better :)
OK - thanks for that; my tongue just did that lghllgh thing.
ReplyDeleteBleh, spoiled milk is the worst!
ReplyDeleteif I even THINK something is spoiled... in the trash it goes. I don't even bother tasting it and my sense of smell has been gone for years!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you realized it before the whole cup was finished :) Glad you were able to enjoy the next cup :)
ReplyDeletenothing better than multi-tasking!!!
ReplyDeleteCrap on a cracker! U teachers are so smrt............
ReplyDeleteGreat idea to "run" the errand. I also love having a run with purpose, or any kind of "destination" route.
ReplyDeleteAnd that's why I don't put anything in my coffee. Cheers!
ReplyDeleteSweet that you can run to the store!
ReplyDeleteThe planet thanks you for not taking the car. ;-)
The stroller must be nice to carry things like milk in - it has an upside! (aside from carrying that cute little baby of yours :) )
ReplyDelete3 days left? You were robbed! AND it ruined your coffee! :p
ReplyDeleteHappy Thursday!
I have had a really bad experience with bad milk and will now throw any milk out if the date matches the day it is. And, if it smells at all "different" it's a goner! Nice job getting a run in while getting fresh moo juice!
ReplyDeleteNice multi-purpose run. I am terrified of spoiled milk. I won't even taste it . . . if the date is expired or it smells a little off, it's gone.
ReplyDeleteLove accomplishing something when I run.
ReplyDeleteI think you get your money back for raunchy milk (if it goes before its time).
ReplyDeleteGreat errand-running on the run :)
I love it when I can combine running with errands. It's one of the few reasons I miss running with a running stroller.
ReplyDeleteIt is great to take care of some to-do's on a run around town. I always feel like I have justified my run that way. Living in a small town I have been known to hit the Dr. office to pay a bill, the post office, and store. Love multi-tasking.... and now with the stroller (I'm a new mom with a BOB) I will be able to pick up so much more at the store ;-)before it was just what I could fit in my hydration pack. Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletelast week i poured half and half into my milk and it curdled. YUCK! nothing ruins a cup of coffee like bad dairy!
ReplyDeleteI get so skeevy around milk that I sniff it as soon as it starts to get close to the expiration date.
ReplyDeleteGeez, halfway through before you realized? Either you have a very small coffee cup or your really do not wake up quickly!
ReplyDeleteWhen running I love to drink water the most and after coconut juice...:D that is me...anyway love the story your post is good...:D
