Rained Out

Ah, to be a meterologist in Florida in the summer; it's gotta be a cake job because the weather is exactly the same every day from early May through the end of September. Everyday, the forecast consists of the following: 86 degrees, sunny during the morning and early afternoon, and at about 4 pm, a 50% chance of thunderstorms.

Often times, this time of year, it will rain hard and thunder and lightning for a short spell and then the clouds clear, and the evening is clear, but today, the storms set in around 4 pm, and the rain hasn't let up since.

Now, I will run in rain if it starts raining on me during my run, but I really hate setting out in rain -- mostly because I hate running in squishy wet shoes. So, I think I will consider today's intent to run a bust, and hope that I actually motivate myself to get up early tomorrow morning.

Besides, cleaning the house has got to count for cross training, right?

  1. I'm like you about the rain, but I've decided to run my 10 miles outside tomorrow, even if it's raining, as long as there's not lightning...

I definitely count housekeeping as CTing. Of course, in my house, housekeeping involves lots of steps.

  2. Cross training for sure, it counts right up there with a marathon in my books!!

  3. House cleaning is always a good workout, especially if you have to do any floor cleaning. All that sweeping and mopping wears a person out.

  4. House cleaning counts and I too would not start an exercise or outdoor activity in the rain. It's one thing to get wet after you started but starting out into it...yuck!

Sorry, standing at the sink, washing dishes and keeping an eye on your favorite sopa opera does not count as cross training.

I love running in the rain. I will change my schedule to run in the rain...as long as there is no lightning!

  8. Cleaning totally counts. Especially if you vacuum.

  9. Yep, house-cleaning counts!

I hate to start running in the rain, too. It feels okay once you're out there but not from the get-go.

  10. housecleaning HAS to count!

I agree, its harder to set out in the rain, if it starts during a run then whatever, but actually stepping foot out into it is a bit harder.
