Baby Class #4: Preparing for Labor
So, class last night and class this upcoming Wednesday both cover aspects of labor and delivery, and all I have to ask is: "Is it too late to request that the stork bring her?"
You are right, that was probably too controversial to blog about. At least I didn't ask about abortion :) I forget that we are so insulated in the military life (where owning guns is just like owning shoes or military uniforms) that a lot of people in the civilian world think it's a pretty controversial topic!
Just ask for the big dose when it comes to the epidural.
On the otherhand you will have a lifetime of guilt trips to lay at Norah's feet when you describe how hard the delivery was (with appropriate embellishment of course).
It makes me think of The Office when Dwight and Michael use a greased watermelon to simulate labor. If you haven't seen it, I'm sure it on YouTube and worth a watch!
aw come on...i was so scared in the weeks prior but when it came down to it i literally felt no pain- adrenaline takes over. My being active prior to the preg helped and you staying active throughout yours will definitely make a difference- you'll pop that baby out like nobody's business!
Did they tell you that after you've been pushing for a while that you don't care who comes in the room. I had anesthesiologists, blood people, nurses, you name it walk in while i was pushing and I just didn't care. My only thing I could say was "Can you PULL him out?" :)
In my recollection, the marathon was way more difficult than child birth...and you've already done a marathon, (and lots of 1/2s), so childbirth'll be easy.
hahaaaaaaa. I was wondering that all along! It wasn;t that bad. Just be sure to eat / drink before you head to the hospital! You need the fuel- take some Gus!
hahahha. i have only one thing to say. i was convinced i would need drugs to get through labor, but ended up doing it (twice) without. whatever decision you make, you are strong enough to get through labor, i'm sure of it!

From what I have seen/heard, I would porbably be wondering the same thing...
ReplyDeleteLOL.
ReplyDeleteI think it may be a little late.
ReplyDeleteLOL
ReplyDeleteD R U G S!
ReplyDeleteI don't think booze affects the baby during birth. I would bring a flask to delivery.
ReplyDeleteLOL... Just tell'em to give you the good stuff!! :-)
ReplyDeleteI remember in that class tuning out the part about c-sections, since I figured I wasn't going to get one.
ReplyDeleteWhoops!
Ah, scary!

ReplyDeleteFor both of my daughter's deliveries, the first word out of my wife's mouth when she arrived was "epidural" !!

ReplyDeleteWhat Mrs. K said :)
ReplyDeleteThe only word you need to know is "drugs" ;-) Your body knows how to do the rest. It's birthing is like taking a huge dump. Sexy I know :P

ReplyDeleteThankfully, giving birth is a lot like running a marathon - you forget quickly what it felt like.
ReplyDeleteThat said, I had an epidural that didn't take properly the first time and still decided to do it without drugs the second time.
Hee hee - I think the 'labour discussion' is the main reason we didn't take classes! Hope it wasn't too scary!
ReplyDeleteYou're gonna be great! Runners/Athletes always have the best deliveries!
ReplyDeleteYour lack of words about the class speaks volumes.
