Last Post Regarding Anything Related to Chicago (Promise)

So, you know how after a marathon, everyone who finished proudly wears t-shirts that say things like "Chicago Marathon Finisher 2007"? Well, I'm thinking of designing a little number for myself on a website that reads:

"I was barfing at mile 8 and was bused back to the finish at the Chicago Marathon 2007."

It could have a little stick figure on the front with its mouth open and barf spewing forth!

And, maybe I could buy that finisher's medal that's up for bid on ebay to go with my shirt -- would the comedy be too dark? Or would it be richly appreciated?

  2. There's your million dollar idea. Market those babies and you will have a nice little nest egg. I'll be happy to just take 50% for giving you the idea.

Nancy and Jess, business partners extraordinaire. :D

  3. I like the idea about the shirt, but I would totally make my own medal out of a Yoplait lid, a la The Office "Office Olympics" episode.

  4. OOoooooo I dig!! I dig!! But I like David's idea of making your own medal out of a Yoplait lid. Although maybe instead some Gu packets or Gatorade cap? :P

  5. What a crazy idea for a t-shirt, Jess! I bet there's other people who have other ideas for their shirts.

  6. I'd be happy to illustrate the shirt for you, now that you're familiar with my skills and everything!

  7. That is such a funny idea. You'd sell a ton of them.

  8. Can you add to the back of the t-shirt around the neckline - "And I had to design my own race shirt."

  9. I think every big event needs to be commemorated in some fashion and your idea seems very uniquely Jess. Which makes it awesome! Leaning over a bush puking, love it.

I think the shirt would be great and the medal would really set it off.

I love eBay. I almost bought one of Amy's magnets on there the other day.

  11. I do think they would really sell. Maybe you could have one of a stick figure hurling, one of a stick figure laying in an ER bed, etc...

  15. Haha oh man that would be hilarious! You could probably sell the shirts on e-bay and make a killing!

  16. I think you should do the T-shirt and sell the hell out of them. Maybe make a series of them, including the one about puking at Mile 8 but adding in some other themes, like "I survived Chicago's 2007 Fun Run."

  18. I'm really digging this idea about the shirts. How about the 4 phases of the 2007 Chicago Marathon - 1st pic, stick figure paying money; 2nd pic, figure running with sweat flying off; 3rd pic, puking in the gutter; 4th pic, in a hospital bed with an IV. Or something along those lines. It may become cost prohibitive to produce multiple version, given the target audience size.

  19. I like the stick figure idea. You should make that into the finishers medal!

  24. How about:

"I ran the 2007 Chicago Marathon and all I got was this lousy heatstroke."

    We'll make millions! ;)
