Garmin Forerunner 110

Thanks for all the input you guys provided about your experiences and observations regarding various GPS devices, particularly your various uses of Garmin's Forerunner series. Particular thanks for informing me of Garmin's latest upcoming device: The 110. I had no clue this was forthcoming, and after doing some reading and researching about it online (particularly a few product reviews), this seems like exactly the kind of Garmin I'd like! It's essentially a simplified version, so it primarily just provides time, distance and pace, but it can be upgraded with other features as well. But truthfully, what I truly care about and use is the basic features: time, distance, pace. In fact, I'm embarassed to admit that I hardly used all of my 205's features, so even though this new model is being advertised as a "beginning runner's gadget," it sounds right up my alley!

Cost? Relatively affordable. For the basic model, it retails for less than $200, and the basic model is all I need (I don't use an HR monitor). A quick call to my local running store later, and I found out that they'll have models in as soon as the first week of May.

And, with my b-day next week, I'm sure to get some b-day money from my parents, grandparents, etc, so I think I'll just stash that b-day cash away and wait for this new Garmin to come out in a few weeks! Until then, I'll just run without, which is kinda nice in its own way -- even though my left wrist feels lonely.

  2. What a great option! I don't use all the features on my current Garmin either... I love the pink on this one! :)

  4. Nice! That actually sounds very tempting! But I can't believe it is still as pricey!
I think I have seen the 305's on ebay cheaper than that :)

  5. Wow, that's great! I have a 305, and I don't use most of it's features either, so the 110 model looks like it would be right up my alley. I am a bit surprised though, I got my 305 last year through Amazon for $150, so I think I thought this 110 would be cheaper?

  6. I agree, I hardly use my functions either :) I suggest you google the 110 online once it's out, the price of $200 sounds kind of expensive. I bought my 305 for $145 at Costco. Good luck! :)

  8. This is pretty cool - I don't use many of the advanced features on mine either. Do they make a non-pink one for guys? :o)

  9. I pretty much use the pace, distance and time feature even though mine does much more. Sounds like that one will work. Funny story about the dolphin/shark!

I have the 305 and don't use any of the features besides time and pace. I should have gotten this one. Or learn how to use the other features on mine.

  22. Thanks for pointing this out. I had no idea Garmin was coming out with a cheaper, less fancy model. I don't need the bells and whistles but I'd like a Garmin and this might work for my budget.

  23. I really like how simple and easy this Garmin seems to use, I think I might go scoop one up myself! I have never had one - mainly because I fight technology! I am so bad with fancy phones and gadgets, etc....but I think this one is worth me checking out! Thanks for the review :)
