Congrats to...

...my husband, Jerry!

He got promoted at work yesterday -- he's worked hard and deserves it, so I'm proud of him and his accomplishment! And...now he can afford to buy me more Coach :)

But, back to what's most important here on this blog:

Me.

The expo was fun yesterday -- my Bib # is 16120 -- and I picked up a few do-dads at the expo. One funny detail though: the hat they included in my goody bag says "2007"! Oopsie. After the expo, we walked over to Lincoln Road in Miami Beach and walked in some of the shops and sat down for a beer. Eventually, we wandered down to the ocean so the in laws could see the beach, and then we drove up to Bass Pro and had a wonderful dinner a Islamorada Fish Company. By the time we got home, I pretty much crashed and I slept in this morning -- glorious!

Today, I think we'll mainly be lazy, and settle in early tonight. We have to get up at 3 am in the morning to leave the house at 3:30 tomorrow morning. I have made the executive decision to drive us all (I kinda have this control issue about race day morning) and we're leaving early to ensure enough time for parking, etc and the race begins at 6:15.

So, until tomorrow, my friends, auf vedersehen!

  1. Any bets on who will get left behind at 3:30am tomorrow morning? Your hubby and inlaws must love you to get up that early. I had a moment where I contemplated going to see you finish but then thought to heck with that. I will wait for race day updates and pictures. Good luck to you. I will be rooting you on from the comfort of my bed.

I am so darn jealous. I should also be in Miami, but I blew out my knee during a marathon a few weeks ago. Hope your race is a good one!

  7. Congrats to your husband for the promotion. And, of course, good luck to you in the race! Can't wait to read the race report! Have fun and kick ass! :-)

I have no idea in hell how I'm going to get up that early for a race. I take a long time to get going in the morning before I can do physical activity, so that will definitely be a challenge for me.

  8. Jess, I resent the email to the address you sent, but I think it's the same one I sent to before. Either way...

I am doing the half and expect to finish between 2:10-2:25. Just depending on how the leg feels. During the race I will be wearing a dark grey sleeveless shirt and black shorts. Maybe a white hat. The group I run with has a tent. It's the Footworks Tent and we will be located back just south of the BIG FOUNTAIN. You can wander over afterwards if you feel like it, or I will even be there before the race starts.

After the run, I plan on going back to the tent, grabbing my camera and staking out a place by the road to take pictures of my group coming in. (Probably facing the race, to the left of the bleachers.) I'll have a big camera, so maybe that will help you find me.

I hope I get to meet you tomorrow. Good luck in the race!!! :)
