Messing around with the pace and incline usually helps pass the time.Marlenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08230997094889375925noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13849002.post-6403467088835111412011-09-20T12:16:54.398-05:002011-09-20T12:16:54.398-05:00Good work, Jess! I always alter my stride on the treadmill so I get shin splints.

Super props on making running work for you when you can, wherever you can! Therefore, I prefer to run outside, but it's much safer on a treadmill, so I pick my poison most days.Julie Dhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05695544893811029409noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13849002.post-73748398081929573932011-09-20T08:54:09.083-05:002011-09-20T08:54:09.083-05:00I hate running on treadmills but they do have a ti...I hate running on treadmills but they do have a time and a place. I think there is a suggestion to put the incline at 1-2% to make up for the fact that the machine is doing some of the work for you (it's pulling your foot back) and there is no wind or other factors that you would encounter outdoors. I read that 1-2% is good...but I don't remember where I read it :). sorry for the lack of reference!Leahhttp://jasonleahrun.comnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13849002.post-45644639121933015782011-09-20T08:33:08.669-05:002011-09-20T08:33:08.669-05:00As much as I despise the treadmill at times, I pre...As much as I despise the treadmill at times, I prefer doing speedwork on it. It is great for intervals. I still prefer tempo runs outside though. If you do a couple of speedwork days on the treadmill each week, you are going to be super fast in no time!!Robinhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05873991909276036915noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13849002.post-77549472108334453762011-09-20T08:02:56.102-05:002011-09-20T08:02:56.102-05:00yay good job! i've found the treadmill is a go...yay good job! i've found the treadmill is a good option when i want to do "speed" as well. setting the pace helps you do it with little thought. it certainly doesn't compare to the great outdoors, but as you mentioned, it does have some advantages (ie weather)runner26https://www.blogger.com/profile/13370012240058974013noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13849002.post-19523664639904079022011-09-20T07:22:26.833-05:002011-09-20T07:22:26.833-05:00I'm quite the opposite. Usually I bring my phone with a movie on it and just veg out watching something.Jameshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03806353710709814218noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-13849002.post-33963248929197089892011-09-19T21:17:51.612-05:002011-09-19T21:17:51.612-05:00I almost never use a treadmill (so far only twice ...I almost never use a treadmill (so far only twice all year) because of the boredom factor. Start out with a nice slow warm up mile and cool down mile and before you know it you've run 5 miles! And you totally need some sort of tv option. I used to get motion sick running and watching tv (actually I get motion sick doing most everything) but you get used to it and over it quick!Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06680818361476289194noreply@blogger.com
